Every city has stories to tell, stories about its buildings as they undergo change and its citizens as they walk its streets. The Temporary Museum of Permanent Change seeks to tell these stories through art with displays, posters, videos, and installations.
Join us as the Sundance Film Festival becomes a wing of this innovative always-changing, always-open museum without walls. During the Festival, Broadway will be transformed into a unique showcase for artists and their work. Buildings will become screens to project giant videos, and other displays will incorporate festivalgoers into the dynamic energy that characterizes city life.
The Festival will highlight the work of two artistic collaboratives, Cause Collective and Graffiti Research Lab. Cause Collective uses a vibrant assembly of video portraits of people and places around Oakland, California, to paint a mesmerizing digital canvas of what makes up a town, examining the way individuals mesh with their community. The Collective will project its images along Broadway.
Graffiti Research Lab presents L.A.S.E.R. Tag, a Weapon of Mass Defacement that uses a 60-milliwatt laser and a huge projector to give individuals the power to communicate their thoughts on buildings. The G.R.L. will bomb Salt Lake City venues and cityscapes along Broadway the evening of Wednesday, January 23.
