Look what we found… with all the excitement surrounding the Twilight series, we thought we’d mention a few of the Sundance Twilight connections.
It was recently announced that Bill Condon will direct the next film in the series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Bill Condon’s Gods and Monsters screened in the American Spectrum category at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival and went on to win an Academy Award in 1999 for Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, released earlier this summer, was directed by David Slade, who directed Hard Candy, which premiered in the Park City at Midnight category at the 2005 Film Festival.
New Moon was directed by Chris Weitz, who played Chuck in Chuck & Buck, which screened in the Dramatic Competition at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.
Catherine Hardwicke directed the first film in the series, Twilight, and in 2003 her film thirteen screened in the Dramatic Competition of the Film Festival. Catherine served as a juror at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and participated in the Directors and June Screenwriters Labs as a Creative Advisor in 2005, 2007, and 2009.
