Today is a big day for film lovers! The 2023 Sundance Film Festival is still raging — the online portion starts today! — and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just announced their nominations for the 95th Academy Awards.
Last year’s Fest provides a good chunk of our nominees in this year’s competition from shorts to features including multiple nods for Living. We also are thrilled to repeat our near-sweep of the Best Documentary Feature category with four out of five nominations going to Sundance–supported films.
The 2023 Festival slate is already going for gold with a Best Animated Short Film nomination for The Flying Sailor (which is available to watch online right now!)
Find the full list of Sundance–supported Oscar nominees below, and a special congrats to yesteryear alums with other nominations in this year’s Academy Awards including The Daniels (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin), Todd Field (Tár), Ruben Östlund (Triangle of Sadness), Rian Johnson (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery), Sarah Polley (Women Talking), and Laura Poitras (All the Beauty and the Bloodshed).
Make sure to cheer them all on during the ceremony on March 12, 2023!
